Transparncy
To be transparent is a hard thing for leaders to be. If you are to transparent with some people, they will think you are a head case. On the other hand if you are not transparent at all, you will began to build this somehow perfectionist mentality that no one can see you in your imperfect state. This is the very thing that keep me from going to church for several yrs. I thought if I had to be perfect, then there was no way I could ever be good enough for God. But as I begin to see in God's word that he expect's perfection and I could not obtain that perfection, is where the real beauty of Jesus came through. I began to understand that it was Jesus that made me perfect in God's eyes. Not that I will ever be perfect, Romans tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but I can be made righteous in the eyes of God because Jesus died on the cross in my place. Now this is freeing to me, because when I realized I can never and I mean never be GOOD enough on my own, it makes it easier for me to be who I am in Christ. With my flaws and faults that I have, I can run to God and ask him for help,(not so we can stay in our flaws and faults) because Jesus loves us to much to leave us where we are. We must grow. I think this is the very key that unbelievers are looking for. Not a perfectionist, but a flawed and brokeness that reflects us in our truest state while still loving Jesus. I heard a pastor say one time we need to lead by our weakness and brokeness. I feel the same way, because in our broken state is where we can relate to those who are broken and hurting the most. I want to hear from someone who has been there and done that. Not someone who has no idea what I am going through. I want to know that it is ok for me to be flawed, as long as I am growing in Christ. Now I am not talking about blatin sin of course, but we as Christians need to let people see us go through our struggles, so they can see God help us through our times of need. Then and only then can we really bring Glory to the Father as Jesus did.............
